Microsoft 365 Pricing Update 2026

Fine print: All prices below are converted from Microsoft’s published USD pricing based on an indicative exchange rate of USD:SGD = 1:3. Final customer pricing may vary depending on Microsoft’s country-specific pricing, currency adjustments, CSP/NCE terms, subscription commitment, billing frequency, promotions, taxes, and applicable Oryon Networks service arrangements.

Microsoft has announced a global pricing and packaging update for selected Microsoft 365 commercial suites and standalone components, including Enterprise, Business, Frontline, Government commercial equivalents, and nonprofit pricing. These updates are important because they will affect many organisations’ Microsoft 365 renewal costs from 1 July 2026 onwards. Microsoft has also confirmed that standalone Microsoft Teams and standalone Copilot SKUs are not included in this pricing update.

At Oryon Networks, we want to keep our customers informed early so that you have enough time to review your current subscriptions, plan your renewal budget, and optimise your Microsoft 365 licensing before the changes take effect.

Key Dates to Take Note Of

Microsoft has stated that the pricing updates take effect on 1 July 2026, while packaging updates will begin rolling out from June 2026. Existing customers will remain on their current pricing until their next renewal, and Microsoft says customers will receive at least 30 days’ notice in Message Center before packaging changes become available in their tenant.

In practical terms, if your Microsoft 365 subscription renews after 1 July 2026, the new pricing may apply at renewal. This makes it important to review your renewal dates, licence usage, and plan mix ahead of time.

Why Microsoft Is Increasing Prices

According to Microsoft, this update reflects the continued investment and added value delivered across Microsoft 365, including new capabilities in security, IT management, endpoint management, and Copilot Chat experiences. Microsoft states that new capabilities will begin rolling out in June 2026 and are expected to be completed by 1 August 2026 for the listed commercial packaging updates.

For customers, this means the price increase is not only a billing change. It also comes with selected feature additions across Microsoft 365 plans, such as Microsoft Defender for Office 365 Plan 1, Intune Remote Help, Intune Advanced Analytics, Intune Plan 2, Intune Endpoint Privilege Management, Microsoft Cloud PKI, Intune Enterprise Application Management, and Copilot Chat enhancements, depending on the plan.

What This Means for Oryon Networks Customers

For many organisations, the biggest impact will be felt during the next Microsoft 365 renewal after 1 July 2026. Customers using Microsoft 365 Business Basic, Business Standard, Office 365 E3/E5, Microsoft 365 E3/E5, Frontline F1/F3, or affected standalone components should expect a change in Microsoft list pricing.

Customers on plans such as Microsoft 365 Business Premium, Microsoft 365 E5, or plans that receive new security and management features should also review whether these added capabilities can replace separate add-ons or third-party tools. For example, Microsoft’s announced additions include selected Defender, Intune, Copilot Chat, and endpoint management capabilities depending on the plan.

This is also a good time to review whether your current licence mix is still appropriate. Some users may need full desktop applications, while others may only need web-based access, frontline capabilities, or email-only plans. A proper licensing review can help reduce unnecessary costs before the new pricing takes effect.

Our Recommendation

My recommendation to all customers is simple: please do not wait until renewal month to review your Microsoft 365 licensing.

Before 1 July 2026, customers should:

  1. Review current Microsoft 365 subscriptions
Identify which users are assigned Business, Enterprise, Frontline, Apps, EMS, Entra, Windows, Defender, or Purview licences.
  2. Check renewal dates
Existing customers will remain on current pricing until renewal, so your renewal date determines when the new pricing may affect your organisation.
  3. Optimise unused or mismatched licences
Remove licences from inactive users, review duplicate assignments, and ensure each user is on the right plan.
  4. Compare Teams and no-Teams options
Microsoft publishes separate prices for suites with Teams and suites without Teams, so customers should review which version fits their organisation’s requirements.
  5. Review security and management add-ons
Since Microsoft is adding selected Defender, Intune, Copilot Chat, and endpoint management capabilities into certain plans, customers should check whether they can simplify their licensing stack.
  6. Plan budgets early
Finance and IT teams should update their Microsoft 365 budgets based on the expected renewal impact.

How Oryon Networks Can Help

Oryon Networks will assist our customers by reviewing your existing Microsoft 365 subscriptions, identifying affected SKUs, estimating renewal impact, and recommending a cost-effective licensing plan based on your actual usage and business needs.

If your organisation is unsure how this update affects your Microsoft 365 renewal, please contact Oryon Networks. We will help you review your current licences and prepare a practical renewal plan before the new Microsoft pricing takes effect.
